Thane: The Thane city police registered a criminal case against a female doctor from a Manpada-based private hospital after the death of a pregnant woman and her foetus in Feb 2022.
According to police, the woman, a resident of Ghodbunder, was admitted to the hospital on Feb 9, 2022. She received treatment until late afternoon, after which doctors advised her relatives to shift her to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital run by the Thane Municipal Corporation.
Unfortunately, both the woman and her unborn child died following the transfer. Her husband subsequently filed a complaint with the Kasarvadavli police, alleging inadequate treatment at the private hospital, prompting an official investigation.
The Thane District Govt Hospital was assigned to prepare a detailed medical report. Authorities thoroughly examined the treatment protocols followed by the private hospital and evaluated whether standard medical procedures were adhered to.

"The report pointed out serious lapses in treatment and suggested that proper, timely medical intervention could have prevented the deaths," an officer said. Though the woman's husband died last year, the case continued. On Tuesday, Kasarvadavli police summoned her father and shared the findings.
