Two empty fruit boxes on railway tracks trigger FIR

Mira Bhayandar: The Vasai Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a case on Friday against an unknown person after two empty wooden boxes usually used for fruit packaging were found on the railway tracks. The case was filed for criminal trespass, wrongful restraint and endangering human life or personal safety along with sections of the Railway Act. The incident happened on Friday night around 9pm after the motorman of the Virar bound local train saw some objects on the tracks the moment it left Mira Road railway station, on the western line. After stopping the train, the motorman alerted the station manager, who in-turn called the GRP. The GRP visited the spot and then registered a complaint at Vasai GRP station. The spot where the object was placed, was close to Mira road railway station, after the train had left for Bhayandar. —Vishal Rajemahadik
