Prabhu Deva attends temple consecration in Nanjangud
Mysuru: Multilingual actor and ace choreographer Prabhu Deva attended the consecration of the Male Mahadeshwara temple at Kembalu near Doora, which is his mother's native, in Nanjangud taluk, on Wednesday.
The multilingual actor hails from Mugur village in T Narasipura taluk, Mysuru district. His father, Sundar, who is also a known choreographer, was born and raised in Mugur until he moved to Chennai to work in the Tamil film industry. His father married Mahadevamma from Doora village in Mysuru taluk.
Mahadevamma purchased land near Kembalu, where she found villagers performing a puja in a dilapidated Male Mahadeshwara temple, said to have been built during the Chola dynasty. She pledged to renovate the temple. As per his mother's wishes, the actor donated Rs 25 lakh for the renovation of the temple.
The actor, along with his family members, camped at the village from Tuesday evening and participated in the consecration of the temple. The rituals started on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday noon, after all the rituals were completed, a mass feeding followed, said Shivamallappa, a local gram panchayat member.
He participated in various havana, homa, puja, and other puja associated with the consecration of the temple. The multilingual actor also served food to villagers and took part in a mass feeding ceremony organised as part of the event, the GP member explained.
The renovation work started three months ago. Sangama Kshetra Karyaswamy Mutt head Maheswahara Swami led the rituals. He arrived on Tuesday evening and, after the rituals, left for Mysuru. On Wednesday, he arrived early in the morning. His family members also participated in all the rituals, explained villagers.
The temple was in very bad shape, and his (Prabhudeva's) mother wanted to renovate it, explained villagers.
