All NMC Schools to Be Covered Under CCTV Surveillance by July
Nagpur: All schools run by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will soon be brought under CCTV surveillance. The installation of CCTV cameras is expected to be completed by July. A budgetary provision of ₹2.5 crore has been allocated for this initiative.
The state government has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all schools across Maharashtra to ensure student safety. The NMC manages 116 schools in Nagpur, including 88 primary and 28 secondary schools. NMC commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari has approved the funds to install CCTV cameras in all these institutions.
Sources revealed that the installation works began in the previous academic session to enhance student safety, particularly for girls. Of the 28 secondary schools under NMC, 25 are already under CCTV surveillance. The remaining installations are expected to be completed within the next three months.
NMC education officer Sadhana Sayam said the control of these CCTV cameras will rest with the respective school principals and education officers. Additionally, the entire system will be monitored through a central control room.
"The central office of NMC will regularly monitor the safety measures in schools, helping to prevent any untoward incidents on campus," Sayam said.
