Nashik: Water resources minister Girish Mahajan on Saturday claimed deputy chief minister
Ajit Pawar had violated Mahayuti protocol as it was decided that prominent opposition candidates, who had contested against Mahayuti, would not be welcomed into the party folds by anyone.
Mahajan's statement comes even as two former NCP (SP) ministers and a former MLA from Shiv Sena (UBT) are set to join the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Jalgaon, Mahajan said, "We welcome the fact that the former NCP (SP) ministers and former MLA are joining a partner party in Mahayuti. But it has violated the Mahayuti protocol."
Mahajan said he would raise the issue with the seniors during his meeting. Mahajan noted neither Ajit Pawar nor his party office-bearers discussed the matter with Mahajan or the BJP leadership, nor did he (Mahajan) raise the issue with Pawar or his party.
"There are several NCP (SP) or Shiv Sena (UBT) members who want to join Mahayuti. Some of them have already joined, and we welcome them," said the minister. Mahajan further said this act of NCP had now opened the doors for BJP to include politicians from various political parties into its fold.
Mahajan further claimed these politicians were willing to join BJP, but were not allowed to. "These leaders expressed their eagerness to join BJP. We held talks with the Shiv Sena minister Gulabrao Patil, who raised a red flag. We stopped the process and stopped them," claimed Mahajan.
