According to police, the men were travelling in an Ertiga car from Raj Nagar Extension towards Sanjay Nagar. The two trucks, coming from Meerut and Sanjay nagar ALT side, were heading towards the intersection at a high speed.
Both the trucks have been impounded. However, their drivers fled.
"An FIR was lodged against two drivers. The bodies were subsequently sent for postmortem, following which they were handed over to their relatives. We are making efforts to arrest the absconding truck drivers," said Sihani Gate SHO Randhir Yadav.
The FIR has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC, following a complaint filed by Lateef's uncle Shabbir Ahmed.
"Lateef had left home around 10.30 am and that was the last we saw him. Monu's parents told us that his wedding had been fixed for December 5," Shabbir said.
