Ghaziabad horror: Man kills rape survivor’s brother to avenge jailed sibling

GHAZIABAD: This was a revenge plot planned in cold blood over two years and executed with blood-curdling brutality.
A 25-year-old private contractor, whose brother was handed 20 years' rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor in 2023, allegedly murdered the survivor's brother in an act of revenge. The victim's body was found behind bushes in Madhuban Bapudham on Saturday with severe head injuries, reportedly caused by a stone. A part of the smashed head had even been mutilated by dogs before the body was discovered by locals.


Sarfaraz, a contractor, was arrested from Raispur village on Monday night in connection with the murder.
According to Rajesh Kumar, DCP (city), Sarfaraz had admitted to killing the 28-year-old man to extract revenge for the jail term handed over to his own brother, Manu.
It was in the latter half of 2023 that Manu was arrested for the rape of the murdered man's younger sister and subsequently handed the jail term.
Harbouring deep resentment against the girl's family for pursuing the case in court despite repeated threats, Sarfaraz allegedly plotted to kill her brother.
Over the past few weeks, the accused struck a chord with the girl's brother and persuaded him to bury the past behind them.
On Feb 22, Sarfaraz got him intoxicated and lured him to a forest area in Kamla Nehru Nagar.
"Sarfazar picked up a stone he found near a garbage mound along a dirt path and struck the victim multiple times on the head. After ensuring the man was dead, Sarfaraz threw the stone away in nearby bushes and returned home," Kumar said.
This wasn't Sarfaraz's first brush with the law.
He has a history of violent crimes, including another murder in a similar manner.
In Dec 2023, Sarfaraz allegedly killed an employee — Shahrukh Khan — over a wage dispute. Shahrukh (25) had demanded that the minimum wage for workers under Sarfaraz be raised to Rs 400-500 a day instead of the Rs 200 that they were being paid.
Following a similar modus operandi, Sarfaraz allegedly took Shahrukh to an isolated spot, got him drunk, and killed him with a stone.
Sarfaraz was arrested the same month, but secured a bail in June 2024. His criminal record also includes an arrest in Aug 2022 for allegedly assaulting a 50-year-old woman in Madhuban Bapudham.
For the latest murder, an FIR was registered against Safaraz for murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS.
"The case was cracked through extensive investigation. We analysed hundreds of CCTV footage, tracked phone records and carried out manual intelligence gathering to arrest the accused," Kumar said.
