Patna: Coinciding with CM Nitish Kumar's ‘Mahila Samvad' programme, the Congress on Friday initiated a campaign to reach out to the women of the state and include their issues in the poll manifesto. It also claimed the INDIA bloc would form the next govt in the state.
Talking to reporters, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba said as part of the campaign named ‘Mahila ki baat, Congress ke saath,' women Congress workers would fan out to villages, interact with women, and discuss their issues. Finally, their feedback and suggestions would be included in the poll manifesto. She said the party would hold a two-day training session for the party workers in Patna before they set out to interact with women in rural areas.
"Through this campaign, women Congress workers will engage directly with women of different Lok Sabha constituencies, assembly seats, blocks and districts, and will hold dialogue programmes to discuss issues confronting them and incorporate them in the poll manifesto," Lamba told reporters in the party office on Friday. Stating that the campaign would continue till May 31, she said they are committed to providing justice to those "who were wronged by the BJP's ‘double engine' govts." During this period, the women's Congress will also promote the campaign on social media with various hashtags.
Replying to a query, she claimed that INDIA bloc would form the next govt in the state. "There are no ifs and buts…we are on our way to forming the next govt in Bihar. No one can stop this," she said, adding that issues of public concerns such as inflation, poverty, unemployment, and women's safety would prove to be the game changer.
Commenting on Nitish's ‘Mahila Samvad', Lamba said this programme would only create trouble for the ruling coalition. "The women had been waiting for such interaction for about a decade, but since the elections are around the corner, it has been started by the govt," she said, adding that Nitish enforced liquor ban only under pressure from women.
