Patna: Danapur division railway police arrested four smugglers, including a married couple, with 27 rare turtles valued at Rs 15-20 lakh in the international market, from Farakka Express at Buxar railway station on Wednesday. The Indian soft-shelled turtles, which are on the verge of extinction, were being transported from Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to West Bengal. Rail SP Amrendu Shekhar Thakur said the accused were identified as Rehanaka, Vinod and Umesh Kumar, all residents of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. "The arrested individuals were sent to judicial custody."
