Patna: J P Ganga Path, popularly known as Marine Drive, is set for a major transformation with the construction of a vending zone and a green belt along the riverfront. The project, being implemented by Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL), will see the development of around 500 fabricated shops along a 1km stretch with an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore. Currently in the bidding phase, the project is expected to begin in May.
PSCL spokesperson Priya Saurabh said there is a plan to organise the food courts on J P Ganga Path so that visitors and pedestrians have a proper place. "A vending zone will be constructed in the area, starting 100 metres after Digha Rotary and extending to Kurji Ghat. The vending zone will span 1km and will include approximately 500 fabricated shops. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 15 crore. PSCL has issued a tender for these fabricated shops and an agency will be selected by the end of April. The construction is likely to begin in May," she added.
The shops, built with steel structures, will be located on the northern side of J P Ganga Path. "The pre-fabricated shops will come in three sizes – 600, 480 and 240 square feet. There will also be seating arrangements, attractive lighting and essential facilities like urinals and toilets," Priya added.
Alongside the vending zone, the project includes parking facilities, a green belt and a pedestrian pathway extending from Digha to LCT Ghat. Several areas will be designated as no-vending zones, including a 100-metre radius around Digha Rotary and the southern stretch of J P Ganga Path from the divisional commissioner's office to Digha.
This redevelopment, inspired by Mumbai's Marine Drive, is aimed at making the area a tourist spot while improving facilities for both visitors and vendors.MSID:: 119308490 413 |
