PATNA: JD(U) on Monday asked its disgruntled national parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha to resign from the party "if even an iota of political morality is left with him".
JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha told TOI that his party, like previous years, is going to organise a programme to recall the social contributions of the Shoshit Samaj Dal founder and former minister Babu Jagdeo Prasad on his birth anniversary on February 2.

"But on the same date, Upendra Kushwaha has planned to organise a separate programme on Jagdeo Babu under different banner at a different venue, violating the party norms. Upendra Ji is a very senior party leader and he himself should ponder whether it is a right decision to hold a parallel event?" he said.
Asked whether JD(U) would take any disciplinary action against Upendra for holding a parallel event, Umesh said, "Upendra Ji is the chairman of the party's national parliamentary board and he himself should ponder what is right and wrong. If even an iota of political morality is left with him, he should resign from the party and do whatever he wants," Umesh said.
He said the people of Bihar and the country were watching the deeds of Upendra Kushwaha. "People know how our leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar converted lesser known Upendra Prasad Singh into a well-known Upendra Kushwaha.
He was given the coveted post of the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly. When Upendra became 'politically unemployed' after changing many parties, Nitish Babu invited him and send him to the Rajya Sabha. But Upendra again ran away from JD(U) after spitting venom against the party leaders. Again, when Upendra became 'tired' and returned to his village after once again becoming 'politically unemployed', the party brought him to the state capital.
The day he merged his party (RLSP) with JD(U), he was given the coveted post of the national parliamentary board chairman. Soon after he was made an MLC. No other leader in the party got so much 'samman' (respect)," Umesh said.
Umesh further said, "Despite all these, Upendra is making adverse remarks against the person who bestowed so much respect on him.
