RAIPUR: The first National Lok Adalat of 2025 in Chhattisgarh witnessed an unprecedented success, resolving over 3469672 cases and disbursing awards exceeding Rs. 1382,76, 74,439. The event, held on Saturday, showcased the efficacy of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the state.
Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha, the Patron-in-Chief of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (CGSLSA), inaugurated the Lok Adalat at the Raipur District Court.
He also flagged off a Mobile Van for the Mohalla Lok Adalat, aimed at reaching underserved communities in Raipur. The inauguration coincided with International Women's Day, and Chief Justice Sinha acknowledged the significant contributions of women across various sectors.
Highlighting the Lok Adalat's role in providing swift justice, Chief Justice Sinha urged judicial officers, legal professionals, and litigants to maximize case resolutions. He conducted virtual inspections of Lok Adalat proceedings in several districts, including Ambikapur, Dhamtari, Bilaspur, and Durg, ensuring smooth operations.
Data collected by Saturday evening revealed that the Lok Adalat, spanning High Court, district, taluka, and revenue courts, successfully settled a massive volume of cases. These included pre-litigation and pending disputes related to bank recovery, criminal matters, electricity, labor, land acquisition, motor accidents, matrimonial issues, cheque bounce, civil cases, traffic challans, and various tax and utility dues.
Chief Justice Sinha expressed his gratitude to Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Executive Chairman of CGSLSA, for his instrumental role in the Lok Adalat's success. He also thanked presiding judges, district judges, bench members, staff, para-legal volunteers, and stakeholders for their contributions. Special appreciation was extended to the litigants for their enthusiastic participation and to the media for amplifying the event's significance.
The inaugural event in Raipur was attended by key officials, including the Registrar General of the High Court, the Principal Secretary of the Law & Legislative Affairs Department, the Principal District & Sessions Judge of Raipur, and representatives from the legal fraternity and various departments. The record-breaking resolution of cases underscores the effectiveness of the National Lok Adalat in providing accessible and efficient justice to the people of Chhattisgarh.
