Dhanbad lad Abhimanyu Tebriwal has emerged as the state topper in the January session of IIT JEE (Main). According to the results released by the National Testing Agency on Tuesday, Abhimanyu secured the top position with a 99.99 percentile. The Allen Institute Dhanbad has claimed that Abhimanyu is one of their students. One more student from Dhanbad, Aditya Bhardwaj was also in the top five in the state.
Other top scorers in the prestigious exam from Jharkhand included Yash Kumar from Hazaribag who scored 99.98 percentile along with Sahil Akash, scoring 99.98 percentile. Both Yash and Sahil were preparing for the competitive exam while staying in Ranchi. Brother's Academy in Ranchi said Sahil was one of the top scorers. Over 380 students from the academy performed well, it said.
Other notable performances included Arnab Pandey with a 99.94 percentile, Vishesh with a 99.93 percentile and Lavanya Bhaskar with a 99.7 percentile. Aditya Bhardwaj from Dhanbad scored 99.82 percentile.
Over 20 students from Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali in Ranchi, also secured top ranks. Arnav Pandey led the school with a 99.94 percentile, followed by Shourya Sharma (99.917) and Aditya Shivam (99.77). Principal Samarjit Jana congratulated the students, teachers and parents for their good performance and said their hard work and commitment to excellence put these achievers on top.
The first edition of this year's JEE (Main) saw 14 students from across the country achieving a perfect 100 percentile with 12 of them belonging to the general category and one each from the OBC and SC categories. Over 12.58 lakh candidates from across the country appeared for the exam, which was held on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29.
The final rankings of candidates will be released after considering the best of their two NTA scores from both exam sessions as done earlier, the NTA said.
