Sushmita Sen recently shared her views on marriage during an interaction with fans and followers through an Instagram Live session. The actress mentioned attending a wedding in Jaipur, prompting a follower to inquire about her own wedding plans.
The former Miss Universe revealed her desire to get married but emphasised the importance of finding the right life partner. She shared, “I also want to get married. Milna chahiye na koi shaadi karne layek. Aise thodi hoti hai shaadi. Kehte hai na, bohot romantic way mein toh dil ka rishta hota hai. Dil tak baat toh pahunchni chahiye na. Shaadi bhi kar lenge.” (There should be someone worthy of marriage, right? Marriage doesn’t just happen like that. As they say in a very romantic way, it’s a bond of the heart. The feeling should reach the heart, right? Then I’ll get married too.)
Sushmita Sen's mushy picture with her ex-beau Rohman Shawl sparks patch-up rumours; fans say 'They look so good together'
Sushmita and Rohman Shawl were dating each other and decided to part ways in 2021. In 2022, Sushmita’s relationship with IPL founder and former chairman
Lalit Modi made headlines after he publicly confirmed their romance through a series of holiday pictures from the Maldives and Sardinia. Modi even referred to Sushmita as his “better half” and updated his Instagram bio, adding her as his “partner in crime.”
However, speculation about their split soon followed when Modi quietly removed Sushmita’s name from his bio and changed his profile picture. Addressing their brief relationship in a 2023 interview with Mid-Day, Sushmita described it as “just another phase.”
Back in the say, the actress revealed why she never got married and insisted that it wasn't because of her two daughters. She said to Tweak India, "The only reason I never got married is because they were a letdown. It had nothing to do with my kids."
"My kids were never in the equation. If at all, they have been very gracious. Both my kids have accepted people in my life with open arms, and never made a face. They have given everybody equal measure of love and respect. It's the most beautiful thing to watch," she added.
Sen was last seen on-screen, playing the role of a mafia queen in the Disney+ Hotstar crime thriller series Aarya. She reprised her role in the third season which debuted in 2024.
