Vadodara: The Godhra taluka police have arrested the driver of a tanker and impounded the vehicle in connection with a tragic accident that claimed the lives of three girls and their father. The breakthrough came after a detailed analysis of CCTV footage.
The fatal incident occurred near Godhra on Friday afternoon when a man, Rajendra Chauhan, and his three daughters were killed in a road accident. His fourth daughter, Nayna, survived but was left seriously injured. The family was traveling from Bor village in Ghoghamba taluka to Sarangpur for a wedding when their motorcycle was reportedly hit by a tanker near Trupti Hotel, situated at the junction of the Godhra-Vadodara highway and the Godhra bypass.
The deceased were identified as Rajendra Chauhan (36), and his daughters Jaanu (9), Manisha (12), and Varsha (13). The critically injured daughter, Nayna (3), was rushed to the hospital.
Initially, the police suspected a truck was involved in the accident. The truck driver was questioned but denied any involvement. The investigation shifted towards examining additional CCTV footage to pinpoint the exact time of the incident. After tracing the truck's movement across multiple locations, it became clear that the truck driver was not involved.
A more thorough review of the footage led to the identification of a tanker, which was registered in Vadodara. The vehicle was traced, and the driver, Ibrar Raza, was arrested. Raza, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, is currently settled in Vadodara. He is being questioned by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
