Varanasi: The Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur and Goddess Durga temples in Varanasi were flooded with devotees offering prayers and rituals on the last day of Chaitra Navratri, celebrated as Ramnavami, on Sunday.
The area around Vindhyachal temple as well as Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja temples were crowded with devotees, who waited patiently in long queues to offer prayers to Goddess Vindhyavasini. The temple, which opened after Mangla Aarti early in the morning, remained crowded till late evening. The nine-day cultural extravaganza organised at the roadways compound in Vindhyachal also came to an end with colorful cultural performances.
In Varanasi, temples of Goddess Durga were crowded with devotees from early morning till late night. Apart from temples, Kanya Pujan rituals were performed at many organisations, houses, ashrams and mutts.
At Aghorpeeth of Baba Kinaram Sthal Krim-Kund in Ravindrapuri, Navami Kanya Pujan was organised with grandeur. Little girls were adorned as various forms of the Goddess and venerated. They were offered various delicacies, after which the seer sought blessings by touching their feet. Ramayana recital at Mandir Chowk of Kashi Vishwanath Dham concluded, attracting a large number of pilgrims who thronged KV temple to offer prayers. Different organisations carried out religious processions in various parts of the city on Ram Navami.
