NER Varanasi division’s foundation day celebrated
Varanasi: The foundation day of the Varanasi Division of the North Eastern Railway was celebrated on Thursday. The main entrance and corridors of the divisional office were decorated with attractive rangolis and balloons.
Each employee and officer entering the office was welcomed with a tilak and sandalwood paste by members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides District Association, Varanasi.
The divisional railway manager Vineet Kumar Srivastava congratulated all the officers and employees of the Division and expressed pride in the fact that the Varanasi Division is moving towards its golden jubilee, having completed 56 years since its establishment.
He said the Varanasi Division was inaugurated on May 1, 1969, by the chief commercial superintendent of the NER Anant Narayan. Before this, there was only a district office of the NER in Varanasi.
He said with the establishment of the Varanasi Divisional Office, the operational area of the Varanasi Division expanded, along with significant enhancements in passenger amenities. The division has continuously progressed, writing new chapters of development. Once known for its narrow-gauge lines, the division now boasts broad-gauge, double-tracked, and electrified lines.
Srivastava expressed hope that the development of the division continues with everyone's participation.
