Special Investigation Team issues notices to MP Midhun Reddy in liquor case
Vijayawada: The investigation into the high-profile liquor scam allegedly linked to the previous YSRCP regime took a fresh turn, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) serving a notice to Rajampet MP and senior YSRCP leader P Midhun Reddy. He was asked to appear before NTR District Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekhara Babu on Friday for questioning in connection with the case.
The summons is part of an expanding probe into a large-scale liquor syndicate, which allegedly generated thousands of crores of rupees through illicit means over a five-year period during the YSRCP's tenure. Investigators believe that political influence played a key role in facilitating and shielding the scam.
Midhun Reddy's name surfaced as part of ongoing inquiries carried out by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the local police. The case already saw major developments, including raids across Hyderabad targeting Raj Kasireddy, IT advisor to ex CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Earlier this week, the SIT also issued notices to former MP V. Vijayasai Reddy, directing him to appear for questioning after his public remarks on the liquor case attracted investigators' attention.
