BENGALURU: PC Musthafa, 44, co-founder of iD Fresh Food (India) Private Limited, which makes batter for idlis and dosas, is the youngest recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) in the history of IIMB. The award was conferred on him during the 45th Foundation Day celebrations of IIMB on Sunday.
“My father would be proud to see my name on the Wall of Fame at the institute,” Musthafa said, thanking his batch of 2007 for nominating him.

Musthafa, a school dropout who went on to study at IIMB, is the son of a daily wager from a remote village in Kerala. He wanted to be an entrepreneur at a very young age and started an enterprise that sold idly-dosa batter jointly with his cousins while doing MBA. The preservative-free batter for idlis and dosas became a hit in south Indian states and his business grew fast.
The other two recipients are S Vaidyanathan (PGP 1992), co-founder, The Ganga Trust, who is wheelchair-bound but has left no stone unturned to help others with disabilities, and MV Rajamannar (PGP 1985), chief marketing and communications officer and president-healthcare business, Master Card.
Prof G Raghuram, director, IIMB, presented a report on IIMB’s growth at the event. The theme for the Foundation Day Lecture was ‘real empowerment’ which was delivered by chief guest Malavika R Harita, founder-CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Focus, at the IIMB auditorium.
