KOHIMA: The nodal officer (police) of Nagaland elections, L Jamir, told the media here on Monday evening that three major incidents of violence took place in Wokha, Monyakshu and Atoizu constituencies.
“In Akuk village of Wokha district (under Bhandari constituency), stone pelting was reported in the morning between the supporters of two political parties at 6.30 am.
Gunshots were also fired. However, it could not be ascertained which side fired the shots. Three persons were injured in the incident,” he said, adding that police had to fire eight rounds in the air to bring the situation under control. The injured have been evacuated to hospital and are reported to be safe, he added.
In Mon district’s Monyakshu constituency, unidentified persons pelted security personnel with stones, the police said. An ITBP jawan and a Nagaland Police personnel sustained injuries in the incident.
