Amartya Bhattacharyya tied the knot with actress
Priyanka Ghosh Roy in a quiet celebration in Kolkata today. Their
marriage
was solemnised in the presence of their family members, close relatives and friends. Once, their work from home is over, they are planning to come to Bhubaneswar.
Both Amartya and Priyanka knew each other for the last few years and worked together in several projects. While Amartya is an IT engineer working in Bhubaneswar, Priyanka also works in the IT sector in Kolkata. Their love for classic films brought them together.
“After I got the
National Award, we met through a common friend. Our likes and interests matched and we became friends. She also worked in my Bengali films Runanubandha and Ketu. Besides, she has been with me in most of my productions since then,” said the filmmaker. “I am an unromantic person, but it’s her who made things happen,” he added.
Amartya has been in Bhubaneswar for around a decade and he has adopted the city as his home. He has made three independent Odia films till date, along with a few Bengali and several documentaries. His films have won national and global recognitions and laurels.
Talking about their future plans, he said they would settle in Bhubaneswar. “I work in Bhubaneswar. She will shift there too. Besides, she is also learning Odia,” said Amartya.
