mumbai: led by actor aamir khan, the lagaan team beat britannia xi by three wickets in the 50 overs cricket match at the brabourne stadium here on tuesday. batting first, britannia were bowled out for 96 in the stipulated 25 overs. harya pareen, who got the best batsman award, made 31 while deva of lagaan who got the best bowler award, took three for 20.
aamir khan (19), film director ashutosh gowarikar (18) and rajesh vivek (15) helped their team reach the target off 23.4 overs losing seven wickets. the britannia team was selected from across the country based on the three-month joint promotion by the company and aamir khan productions. instead of the customary 11 players, each team entered the field with 13 players.
