Arjun Kapoor returns to comedy after playing a villain in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, a role that earned him much appreciation. His latest release, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh, initially received a decent response to its trailer. Now that the film is out, it has pleasantly surprised audiences. Here’s how the internet is reacting!

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has requested four changes to the upcoming film Mere Husband Ki Biwi. These include one visual modification and three dialogue adjustments. The filmmakers must replace a specific hand gesture made by a woman. Additionally, the term Haryanvi will be changed to "Ek Gang," and 'Modi Ji' will be substituted with 'The Government.' Furthermore, the CBFC has instructed a 50% reduction in the volume of a woman's sensual audio in a particular scene. After these edits, the film received a UA 13+ rating.

According to an NDTV report, Bhumi said she was four and was hell-bent on getting a cap Karisma wore in one of the films on her birthday. "Whether it was her impeccable comic timing or her dazzling dance numbers, she owned every frame she was in. I've always wanted to tap into that side of me, and with Mere Husband Ki Biwi, I finally got the chance," said Bhumi.

Bhumi Pednekar credited co-star Arjun Kapoor's humour and friendship for helping create a comfortable atmosphere on set.

She said, "Arjun has a gift for comedy; he can do it well because he thinks like that. Rakul is a sister to me. When you are doing comedy, you need to be in a secure space... Until there is fun, trust and friendship, especially among the actors of a comedy film, you won't be able to make the audience laugh."

The actor credited Aziz for steering her toward the world of comedy once again after working with him on the 2019 rom-com "Pati Patni Aur Woh".

"The backbone of it is the writing. The biggest thing I learnt from Mudassar sir in this film is that comedy is of different styles. Like, the dialogues are written in a specific metre, and as an actor, you need to deliver in that metre, or else the punch won't land," she said.

Bhumi Pednekar said "Mere Husband Ki Biwi" is a fitting role to conclude her first decade in the industry. "'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' has a very special place in my life because when I read the script, I felt, I have never played such a character of Prableen, she is a little off in a nice way... There is so much comedy in her unpredictability, and I have never played such a character before. I've played this part with a lot of dedication, so, it's a very special film for me," she said.

The comedy film celebrates the quirks and complexities of romantic relationships. It is directed by Mudassar Aziz of "Khel Khel Mein" fame.

Actor Bhumi Pednekar, who is completing a decade in the industry this year, says she is happy that she has built her career on playing women with agency, right from her debut with 2015's "Dum Laga Ke Haisha". Bhumi, known for films such "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha", "Bala", "Bheed", and "Bhakshak", said it is a surreal feeling that she gets to live her dream of being an actor everyday through movies.

"I realised I wanted to be an actor when I was 12 so I am grateful that even after 10 years I am doing what I love so deeply. I constantly seek agency in my characters. If they don't have agency, I wouldn't do them because I just wouldn't enjoy being a part of that process. I am lucky that I had the opportunity to play such diverse women," the actor told PTI in an interview.


Bhumi will next be seen in "Mere Husband Ki Biwi", which also features Rakul Preet Singh and Arjun Kapoor.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has said that the entire journey from shooting ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ to “promotions and everything in between” was an escapade for him.

Arjun took to Instagram, where he shared a video featuring highlights which included the shoot of the song “Gori Hai Kalaiyan”, the making of the movie and the promotions in various cities.

“Bas ab woh din door nahi hai! the entire journey from shooting the film to promotions and everything in between was an escapade!” Arjun wrote.

He revealed that it was a fun ride not only because he got to work with his friends. “Not just coz I was working with my friends but also coz this film was just a laughter riot in itself! (sic)”

Speaking about the song, 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' director Mudassar Aziz said the idea was to try and transport the audiences to the feeling of those memorable 'filmy' songs that are the identity of Hindi Cinema.

“I have always loved them and had the opportunity to attempt this because Mere Husband Ki Biwi is a film in that very genre.”

Rapper Badshah shared that 'Gori Hai Kalaiyan' is the ultimate vibe of the season.

“It is peppy, it is upbeat, and carries a very filmy vibe to it. I had a blast while working on this song, and I assure the audience that 'Gori Hai Kalaiyan' will leave you grooving!"

Actor Arjun Kapoor, who is all set to be seen in the romantic-comedy film “Mere Husband Ki Biwi”, says stepping back into the genre is like “revisiting an old friend.”

"I’ve been fortunate that the audience has loved and accepted me in the romance genre in films like 2 States, Ki & Ka, and other films. It’s good to be doing something in the lighthearted zone. I hope the audiences shower me with the same kind of love and acceptance for Mere Husband Ki Biwi," said Arjun, who has previously worked in films such as "2 States" and "Ki & Ka".

The actor, who was last seen as the menacing Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again”, added: “After playing Danger Lanka in Singham Again, its great to step back into the rom-com space. It’s like revisiting an old friend.”

Arjun said that he has always loved stories that bring warmth, laughter, and love to the screen, and “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” film does exactly that.

“My goal is to make content that the audience likes and enjoys, so I'm happy to be doing a project in this space,” he added.

Comedian Gujral, who is making his acting debut with the film, said working in a movie is a dream-come-true moment for him.

"I am doing a film for the first time, it's a dream. I have been doing stand-up comedy for the last eight years. Those years of stage presence and hardwork, I think that will be noticeable on the screen," he said.

Singh praised the comedian for his dedication and recalled an incident when he couldn't do a hook step of a song.

"Harsh saw Arjun doing it during rehearsals and recorded it. He kept practising the entire night in his room. The next morning when the shoot began he knew the dance," she said.

"Yesterday our families saw the film, and the common favourite was Harsh," added Pednekar.

"Mere Husband Ki Biwi", produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh through Pooja Entertainment, will be released in theatres on February 21.

Actor Arjun Kapoor, who will next feature in comedy film "Mere Husband Ki Biwi", says the genre is important for family audiences. The actor was in the national capital on Tuesday for the promotion of the upcoming film, directed by Mudassar Aziz.
"Comedy is a genre which we all as audience like to go to theatres and watch a lot. It is an important genre for the family audience," he told reporters here.

"If you can make the people laugh together there is no better feeling. I have done action, drama, some comedies, even rom-coms. I am looking forward to doing more comedies after this film," he added.

Reportedly only 5k tickets were sold in the advance booking and the film is expected to make a business somewhere between Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 2 crore

At the launch of the movie, Bhumi expressed how she grew up watching movies where female characters didn't limit themselves to stereotypical roles. "I've seen such films while growing up and I would get inspired by actresses (Karisma Kapoor and others) like them, the work they did. I'm glad Mudassar sir gave me the opportunity to do comedy in two of his films ('Pati Patni Aur Woh' and 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi')," she said.

Highlighting the harsh truth, she added, "Usually, female actors don't get to do comedy films. I love watching comedy films. In this film, both female actors have done comedy on the front foot, like how you would see back then (in the 90s) with the number one series kind of films where actresses would do comedy. So, we've done something similar."

Bhumi Pednekar plays an ex-wife who is keen on getting her husband back in the movie 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi'. While talking to ETimes, the actress joked how she hasn't been married yet, but owing to tons of experience playing the 'wife' character on the screen, she would know how to handle her husband once she ties the knot.

After Bhumi's comment, Mudassar added, “Like how on the internet there in National Crush, Bhumi Pednekar should be announced as National Patni ( laughs)."

During the promotions of the movie, Arjun Kapoor expressed how he would love to do more comedy genre movies. While addressing the media he said, "Agar aap logon ko hansa sake ek saath baith ke, usse acchi feeling kuch hoti nahi (If you can make people laugh while sitting together, there is no better feeling than that).”

"I am looking forward to doing more comedies after Mere Husband Ki Biwi,” he added.
