Veteran Bollywood producer Salim Akhtar, renowned for launching the careers of Rani Mukerji and Tamannaah Bhatia, passed away on April 8 2025 in Mumbai, at the age of 82. His funeral took place on April 9 at the graveyard near Irla Mosque in JVPD. Now, celebrities including Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Gowariker, Vardhan Puri were spotted arriving at his residence for the prayer meet.

Now, celebrities including Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Gowariker, Vardhan Puri, and others have been spotted arriving at his residence for the prayer meet.

In the recently shared pictures by paparazzi online, well-known producer-actor Mukesh Rishi was seen making an entrance in simple casual attire. Jackie Shroff was also seen entering the late producer’s residence dressed in a white outfit. Actor Vardhan Puri chose to wear a white ensemble for the prayer meet, while director Ashutosh Gowariker also arrived at the venue to pay his respects.

Throughout his career, Akhtar produced several notable films, such as Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997), which marked Rani Mukerji's Hindi film debut, and Chand Sa Roshan Chehra (2005), which introduced Tamannaah Bhatia to the industry. His filmography also includes titles like Qayamat (1983), Loha (1987), Batwara (1989), Phool Aur Angaare (1993), and Baazi (1995).
Raj Babbar, Raza Murad, Firoz Khan, and Shahbaz Khan attended Akhtar’s funeral to pay their respects.

Akhtar is survived by his wife, Shama Akhtar, and son, Samad Akhtar.

His passing comes shortly after the death of legendary actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar on April 4 2025, marking a period of significant loss for the Indian film industry.
