Karthi, known for his versatility in Tamil cinema, continues to push boundaries with diverse roles across genres. The 'Meiyazhagan' actor is currently filming 'Sardar 2', the sequel to the 2022 hit 'Sardar', directed by PS Mithran. The spy thriller, in which Karthi reprises his dual role, has been generating buzz as it promises another action-packed narrative. However, the latest update from the sets of 'Sardar 2' has raised concerns among fans, as Karthi reportedly sustained a leg injury while filming an intense scene in Mysore.
According to a report from Pinkvilla, Karthi was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors conducted a thorough examination of his injury. Fortunately, the medical team has confirmed that the injury is not severe. The dedicated actor has been advised to take a week’s rest before resuming his commitments. Following the doctors' recommendation, the production team has decided to temporarily pause filming, allowing Karthi ample time to recover. The cast and crew have reportedly returned to Chennai, with shooting expected to resume once the actor is fit to continue.
'Sardar 2' is set to be a gripping spy action thriller, expanding upon the themes introduced in its predecessor. While the first installment revolved around a disgraced spy fighting against a water contamination conspiracy, the sequel shifts its focus to the dangers of drug trafficking and its impact on society. Alongside Karthi, the film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Rajisha Vijayan, SJ Suryah, Babu Antony, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath. With George C. Williams handling cinematography and Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the music, Sardar 2 is expected to deliver a high-octane cinematic experience.
Beyond Sardar 2, Karthi has another highly anticipated film in the pipeline 'Vaa Vaathiyaar', an action-comedy directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. Co-starring Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Anandaraj, the film was initially slated for a January release but faced delays due to unforeseen circumstances. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on both films as Karthi continues to take on exciting and diverse projects.
