National Testing Agency (
NTA) will announce the
NEET result 2022 soon. Read on to know how to calculate NEET percentile.
The result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be declared soon. The result will be made available on the official website nta.ac.in or ntaneet.nic.in. NTA, which is the conducting body of NEET 2022, has not yet reported the exact result timings.
However, candidates can learn how to calculate their percentile before the release of NEET results in 2022.

To be able to calculate NEET percentile, a candidate must first know about his NEET scores and NEET rank. So, let us see how to calculate these two aspects of NEET result 2022. Before diving into the NEET result, candidates must be aware of the fact that as per NTA, the general category students require a minimum of 50 percentile marks to qualify whereas reserved categories require at least 40 percentile to qualify for NEET counselling.
How to calculate NEET rank?The NEET rank of a candidate is calculated and declared in the rank list by NTA. But, to know NEET 2022 rank before the results are announced, candidates can analyse the previous year's NEET score vs NEET rank. It is also helpful to know that NTA has disclosed on its official website that it takes into account the raw NEET Marks of all the candidates and then uses some tie-breaker methods to rank them.
NEET 2022 Tie Breaking PolicyAs per NTA NEET 2022, in case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET UG 2022, the inter-se-merit shall be determined as follows:
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the Test, followed by,
- Candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test,
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by
- Candidate Older in Age, followed by
- Application Number in ascending order
How to calculate NEET 2022 score?Candidates can calculate their NEET score with the help of the answer key provided by NTA. A student can match their answers with the answers mentioned in the NEET answer key to see which questions you have answered correctly. 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions that are not answered and have multiple answers marked will not get any marks.
- Total NEET Marks = 180 MCQs X 4 = 720 Marks
- Your NEET score = (Total number of correct answers x 4) (Total number of incorrect answers x 1)
How to calculate NEET percentile?There are two ways to check the NEET 2022 percentile - by marks and by rank. The formula and step-by-step guide to calculate the NEET percentile is provided below for the reference of the candidates:
Marks based NEET percentile- A student can easily calculate their NEET percentage with his NEET score and NEET topper's score in that particular year.
- NEET percentile = your NEET score * 100 / topper's NEET score
Rank based NEET percentile- Students can also calculate their NEET percentile along with their NEET rank and the number of candidates who appeared for NEET in that particular year.
- NEET percentile = [(total number of candidates appeared in NEET rank) / total no. of appearing candidates] x 100
- This method is quite difficult compared to the previous one.
