Operation Sindoor: World cannot afford India-Pakistan confrontation, says UN
UN secretary general Antonio Guterres said that "world cannot afford a military confrontation between the two nations" as India launches "Operation Sindoor" against terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir."The secretary-general is very concerned about the Indian military operations across the Line of Control and international border. He calls for maximum military restraint from both countries. The world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan," the secretary-general's spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, said. The strikes, part of 'Operation Sindoor,' were a direct retaliation for the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. The Indian Army confirmed the strikes, which targeted terrorist infrastructure used to plan and execute attacks on India. They stressed that no Pakistani military facilities were hit, and that the operation was "focused, measured, and non-escalatory."Earlier on Monday Antonio Guterres "strongly condemned" the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 and offered condolences to the victims' families.
