Virbhadra Singh though has softened his stand against party high command but he continues to be gunning against the state leadership for being inactive and playing at the hands of ruling BJP in the state.
Enjoying the support of majority MLAs, Virbhadra Singh continues to flex his muscles to party high command.
His direct attack on the state party president Kaul Singh Thakur over the issue of making appointments in the blocks, district and state level committees has proved again factionalism within Congress has increased with assembly polls drawing closer.
Virbhadra Singh who held a closed door meeting with his supporters at his residence Holly Lodge in Shimla on Wednesday that was attended by 13 sitting MLAs out of total 23 besides former MLAs and ministers, though announced to be with Congress but he hinted that option are open in future if party fails to consider issues put forth by him.
Virbhadra Singh has accused Kaul Singh Thakur of making frivolous appointments in the block, district and state level committees of party. He alleged that Kaul Singh is running the party affairs at his own will without considering the party constitution. Being sidelined by party high command in important decisions, Virbhadra Singh has waged a war of survival and have targetted his detractors within party and accused them of hand in glove with BJP government in the state.
"Under present circumstances Congress can not win the assembly polls as organisation set up needs to be restrictired," he said.
Virbhadra Singh by holding a show of strength at his residence on Wednesday has again mounted pressure on party high command to agreed on his demands. While his detractors like Kaul Singh Thakur and CLP Leader Virdya Stokes too have held meetings with central leadership on the issue of ongoing crisis within the party.
Taking a dig at the decision of sending too many party observers in the state before polls, Virbhadra Singh said that in his 50 years of political life he had never seen so many observers coming to state. "MLAs are feeling harassed by the presence of so many observers and it is causing instability too," he said. Virbhadra Singh is likely to meet party leadership in Delhi this week to sort out the pending issues.
