Side effects of using plastic in making idli
Use of plastic sheets for steaming idlis can lead to leakage of toxic chemicals in the food. Many plastic sheets contain chemicals like bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, and other endocrine-disrupting chemicals, which can leach into food when heated. Some plastics also release dioxins and microplastics that may accumulate in the body over time, increasing the risk of cancer. In addition, plastic consumption can trigger inflammation, weaken the immune system, and disrupt gut bacteria, leading to metabolic disorders. To protect health and the environment, it is crucial to reduce plastic usage, switch to eco-friendly alternatives, and promote proper waste management. It is also said that toxic plastic particles may trigger immune system responses, leading to chronic inflammation. And a weakened immune system makes the body prone to infections and diseases. It is also said that some plastic chemicals affect the nervous system, potentially leading to memory loss, headaches, and developmental issues.
