The United Arab Emirates is making waves on the international stage with the launch of its innovative Blue Visa program—a 10-year residency permit crafted specifically for individuals who have made significant strides in environmental protection and sustainable development. Announced at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai, held from February 11 to 13, this new initiative is a bold step in the nation’s commitment to environmental excellence.
Twenty renowned sustainability innovators will be the first beneficiaries of the Blue Visa initiative, which was created in collaboration between the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

The UAE further establishes itself as a progressive leader in global sustainability with the launch of the Blue Visa. In addition to bolstering its domestic efforts, the country is encouraging international cooperation to tackle the urgent problems of climate change and environmental degradation by inviting the leading environmental innovators in the world to participate in its green agenda.
Candidates may also be suggested by relevant UAE agencies to ensure that only those with a proven track record of environmental activism and innovation are considered. Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, underlined the strategic significance of the Blue Visa. "This initiative is an acknowledgement of the critical role that environmental visionaries play in shaping our sustainable future—it goes beyond simply providing a residency permit," she said. Dr. Amna highlighted further that the program's purpose is to use the experience of these world leaders to help the UAE accomplish its ambitious national sustainability goals and to serve as a model for the rest of the globe.
