29-year-old outfielder with the Tampa Bay Rays, Jake Mangum, played a brilliant game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, while securing at least three hits, driving in two runs, and scoring twice this baseball season. Talking about his stellar performance, Mangun says he feels surreal and he shall be celebrating with his friends and family.
Tampa Bay Rays took control early while Pittsburgh Pirates struggled
The players with the Tampa Bay Rays played well. Jake Mangum’s teammate, Brandon Lowe also hit a home run and drove in three runs. Pitcher Shane Baz was able to strike out 10 batters (a career-best) and allowed seven hits in six innings without giving up any runs.
Meanwhile, Pirates’ Thomas Harrington struggled in his MLB debut. While Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes managed to score two hits each, Pirates couldn’t score any runs.
Jake Mangum calls the victory against Pirates a surreal moment
Jake Mangum is all smiles. Talking about his stellar performance to the MLB Network, he said, this moment felt surreal and he is thankful and excited to be here and a part of the win.
Mangum said:
“This is surreal, The last four days of my life have been unbelievable, the big leagues is everything, everyone has ever said it is, I’m thankful to be here and really excited to be a part of this second series win.”
Further, Jake Mangum thanked his family and friends who offered him endless support. He said, Saturday and Sunday were pretty heavy for him as a player and as a team, however, the team was able to secure a solid spot with their brilliant performance.
When Jake Mangum was asked by the MLB Network regarding who will be celebrating the win with him, Mangum said:
“My family is here tonight, and a couple of close friends.
Regarding the tough spot the team was during the weekend, Mangum said:
“It was a pretty heavy Saturday and Sunday…”
A celebratory moment for Jake Mangum indeed, with his friends and family being there for him. He said:
”About 20-25 people dropped everything, they they hit the road and came down to Tampa, I can’t thank them enough, and I wouldn’t be here without them…”
