According to the reputed media outlet, The New York Post, the Yankees captain was impressed by Lombard Jr.’s approach on the field against the Phillies. He made a bold claim about the young shortstop ahead of the opening day. Aaron Judge said:
“He’s gonna be something special.”

He further mentioned:
“He’s a great kid. He’s a hard worker who goes and does his thing. He doesn’t say much. He shows up and does what he needs to do.”
As reported by the MLB Network, Yankees manager Aaron Boone also spoke about Lombard Jr. He said-
“That was a no-doubter. That’s a little peek to see a young, physical kid continuing to develop into his body. [He has] unbelievable makeup and work ethic; just a really talented athlete. He’s an exciting player with an exciting future.”

George Lombard Jr. turned heads while drilling a 106-mph single against the Philadelphia Phillies’ Zack Wheeler during the spring training.
