Kyle Schwarber needs no introduction when it comes to talking about his electric bad speed and impressive home runs record. The Silver Slugger recipient’s 2024 season with the Philadelphia Phillies was one of the best after his stint with the Boston Red Sox. Recently, former Phillies manager Ruben Amaro spoke about the list of baseball athletes who can easily replace the Ohio-based star.
From Bryce Harper to Bryson Stott- here is the list of athletes suggested by the ex-Phillies manager who are capable enough to replace Kyle Schwarber.
Ex-Phillies manager believes Bryson Stott is the best replacement for Kyle Schwarber
During a recent appearance on the Phillies Show, ex-manager Ruben Amaro spoke about the MLB team. While talking about the off-season developments in the Phillies, Amaro mentioned the popular designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and even listed out a few names who can easily replace the athlete.
According to Amaro, Bryson Stott is one of the best baseball athletes who can easily replace Schwarber. He even mentioned-
"Let me just say this: in my opinion, we have not seen the best version of Bryson Stott, or not even close, in my opinion. I think this guy's a much better hitter than we've seen. I think he can contribute and do a lot of things that, frankly, a leadoff guy can do, and I think he'd be perfectly set up for that. That said, he's got to perform.”While talking about the achievements of Stott, Amaro further elaborated on the factors that make him the perfect fit. He said-
"People forget that Bryson Stott can steal 30 bags, and you’ve got another guy behind him who could steal another 30 or 40 bags. I mean, you’re talking about — and then if you flip the lineup and have Johan Rojas hitting in the nine-hole, holy smokes, you’ve got some real speed back to back to back. And so that creates a lot of action on the field that I think adds a dimension the Phillies sort of need, and not just the power that they will provide.”According to Amaro, even Harper Bryce and Trea Turner can be taken into consideration with respect to a replacement option for Kyle Schwarber for the upcoming season. As the winter off-season is coming to an end and the spring training is about to start, the MLB teams are making headlines with their hits and misses for the upcoming season.
Phillies outfielder Whit Merrifield believes Kyle Schwarber is a great leader
During an interview with the reputed media outlet The Athletic back in 2014, Philadelphia Phillies’ outfielder Whit Merrifield spoke about his teammate Kyle Schwarber. According to Merrifield, the designated hitter is one of the best leaders in the team. He said-
“He’s a great leader...he’s a true leader. I’ve had teammates that have tried to be Kyle. It’s just not something that you can be. You can’t force it. It’s either you are or you aren’t. And Kyle is.”Nick Castellanos even brought out the different side of Schwarber. He said-
“He takes an interest in caring about others. And it’s not something that he fakes. It’s something that was ingrained in his childhood from an early age. It’s natural.”Kyle Schwarber even mentioned that not only he wanted to be a great baseball player but also a good human being outside the field. However, Kyle Schwarber might not have earned laurels in the games, but he has definitely won millions of hearts both on and off the field and made bonds for a lifetime.
