  • The viral training video has been rumored as a response to Paddy Pimblett's callout at UFC 314
  • Poirier’s last bout was a title run against Islam Makhachev

Former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier seems not to be done yet. He was last seen within the Octagon against Islam Makhachev, fighting for the title. Unfortunately, the bout went in favor of the Russian fighter via a submission. To date, Poirier has fought thrice for the lightweight championship but failed to capture the belt. The fighter even made a cryptic statement about his retirement at the Ariel Helwani Show in 2024, where he exclusively mentioned one or two more matches in his career. A recent training video on the internet has now sparked a discussion about whether Poirier will make an announcement about the final fight of his career shortly.

Fans speculate a probable Dustin Poirier vs. Paddy Pimblett fight post The Baddy’s callout after UFC 314

With an MMA record of 30-9-0, Dustin Poirier has made a name for himself within the lightweight division of the UFC. Currently ranked in 5th position within the division, he is one of the top contenders for the title. While rumors state that the fighter is gearing up to face Max Holloway, however, the recent callout by Paddy Pimblett after winning the bout at UFC 314 against Michael Chandler might make the scenario a bit different.
The fighter recently posted a video on Instagram where he is seen trying out different forms of exercises, including skipping rope, sparring with his trainer, and hitting the boxing bag.

Fans have immediately started speculating about the probably indications from the video. Many believed that it is the result of Pimblett calling out the top contenders for his next potential bout. While Pimblett aims for the championship belt, Poirier might as well fight for the title in his last bout of the career.
