Mauricio Ruffy adds another knockout to his list of wins, earns bonus of $50,000
As a member of the rising Fighting Nerds team, Ruffy won his third consecutive victory in the UFC, bringing his professional record to 12-1-0. His only decision win came in his previous fight against James Llontop at UFC 309 in New York. This was the match that legitimizes Ruffy’s versatility in terms of his fighting skills. However, the Brazilian fighter is more known for his spectacular finishes, as seen in his UFC debut knockout of Jamie Mullarkey and now his stunning victory over Green.
Ruffy’s brilliant performance was applauded and praised, which led to a reward of a well-deserved $50,000 performance bonus. Speaking at his post-fight press conference at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and confidence the UFC has placed in him.
“I’m very happy with the win and very happy with the opportunity. I think I did justice to the vote of confidence the UFC has given me. Wherever (that kick) came from, there’s a lot more to come. … We work very hard at the gym for things to happen. Actually, back in the locker room, we were working on that kick, as well.”
Mauricio Ruffy reacts to highlight reel KO of King Green at UFC 313
While his striking ability has been on full display, Ruffy hinted that fans have yet to see the full extent of his skill set. He confidently stated that he has much more to offer, particularly against grapplers and wrestlers, and he is eager to prove it inside the Octagon. Upon asking who he would be willing to face next, Ruffy took no time to call out Beneil Dariush.
Dariush, a respected veteran and former title contender, has not stepped into the ring since his defeat against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Fight Night in December 2023. He was recently scheduled to fight at UFC 311, but was left without a matchup after opponent changes disrupted the event. Now, Ruffy sees an opportunity to fast-track his title aspirations by facing Dariush, believing that a victory over him will propel him closer to the top of the division.
