“You won't believe it”: Ilia Topuria’s cryptic social media post hints at huge mystery announcement

Ever since Ilia Topuria knocked out Max Holloway while defending his championship title at UFC 308 in October 2024, members of the MMA community and fans have been speculating as to who might be his next opponent. Especially now that he vacated the featherweight title and decided to move up the weight class, it will be interesting to see whom the undefeated fighter will be clashing with. With an MMA record of 16-0, Topuria has hinted at Islam Makhachev being his next opponent through his cryptic social media post.
On March 7th, 2025, Topuria posted on X sharing that has created a wave of suspense amongst the entire fandom community. While some of the fans responded with a positive note, others were there trying to troll the fighter for his unhindered confidence.
Topuria tweeted, “When we announce it, you won't believe it. Get ready.”

While the tweet reveals nothing regarding the probable fighter he will be facing, fans are also speculating if it will be Khabib Nurmagomedov, following his statement at an interview, “I would be happy to enter the octagon with Khabib Nurmagomedov. He had an undefeated record at 29-0 and he had an attractive record for me, then also history. He is a worthy and honourable champion for me. [I would 100% defeat him].”

The fan community of any sport is an interesting one, owing to its diversified opinion and support. While a section of them celebrated the undefeated 16-0 streak of Topuria, others claim that this is just the beginning and it shall be Islam Makhachev who will be handing Topuria his first defeat.

While the speculations are soaring with different names and possibilities, however, the supporters are of undisputed opinion that the undefeated record of Topuria is something which can’t be easily broken.
