The Ottawa Senators have announced that captain Brady Tkachuk is currently sidelined with an upper-body injury. He has missed the team's last two games, including a crucial 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on April 3, 2025. The team has not provided a clear timeline for his return, leaving fans uncertain about when their captain will be back on the ice.

Captain’s resilience shines through a grueling season

This isn't the first time Brady Tkachuk has faced injury setbacks this season. Back in February, he missed two games due to a lower-body injury suffered during the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. Despite these interruptions, Tkachuk has remained a key contributor for Ottawa, leading the team with 21 goals and sitting third in overall points with 44 across 56 games.

"It's been a long process for him, but great to see him on the ice," head coach Travis Green said on Thursday to NHL.com. "Any time a guy is hurt with that type of injury and that amount of time, people don't see what the players go through to get back and play. It's been a grind for him. He brings a lot of energy to our group, so it was good to see him out there."
After skipping Thursday’s morning skate, head coach Travis Green confirmed that Brady Tkachuk would be out for a second straight game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Green described Tkachuk’s status as “day-to-day,�?suggesting the injury isn’t long-term but his return remains uncertain.
"The thing about Brady is, he wants to play more than I want him to play, and that's a lot," Green said. "So, he'll play as soon as he's ready. ... It's just that he's not ready to play."
The Senators are aiming to snap an eight-year playoff drought, with their last appearance dating back to their 2017 run to the Eastern Conference Final, where they faced the Pittsburgh Penguins.
