Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk is already writing his own legacy in the franchise. Accomplishing two wonderful milestones when the Senators defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2, he became fourth on the all-time goals list on the team and sixth when he reached his 400 points as a player at the tender age of 25 years. Achieving all these milestones already has fans buzzing about him retiring his jersey one day, while for the time being that is a subject way far out there surpassing that of the legendary Daniel Alfredsson.
How Much is Brady Tkachuk Away from Daniel Alfredsson's Legacy?
While worthy of praise, Brady Tkachuk's accomplishments are rather far away from Alfredsson's franchise marks. Tkachuk needs only 189 career goals, not even halfway to Alfredsson's jaw-dropping 426 goals. Ditto for career points - his 400 total points in his career still leave him with a whopping 708 points short of the Senators' all-time leader.
A major consideration for this potential record chase will be Tkachuk's future in Ottawa, which seems quite bright considering how Alfredsson played for the Ottawa franchise over 17 seasons to create his legacy. Today, Tkachuk has only 3 years remaining in his contract and will have to hit the unrestricted free-agent market in 2028. Of course, there are hints that he would love to play with his brother Matthew Tkachuk in the coming years, but the emotional tie with the Ottawa fan base is probably unbreakable.
