Auston Matthews, the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has been going through a tough time as his teams continues to lose in majority of the matches. With the recent loss against the Ottawa Senators, it marked the fifth loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the last seven games. Auston Matthews recently spoke about the loss against the Ottawa Senators but fans are furious.

After the match against the Ottawa Senators, Auston Matthews spoke about the loss and said, “I mean, I think the margins have been really small the last couple games. But I think, you know, just details—details in our game haven't quite been there.”

He added, “It's on us to figure that out and to just be better. We have to get it through our heads that all these games, especially with some of the teams we're playing, are going to be playoff-like games.”
However, the fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are furious at Auston Matthews. A fan took to X and wrote, “Auston Matthews deserves more criticism. I love the guy but his play this year is unacceptable for a supposed top 5 player making the most money in the entire league.”

Another fan wrote, “It’s insane to me that it’s just not a mainstream narrative that Auston Matthews scores like once every ten games now. Like that’s just normal and we don’t care and we think the leafs will be fine like this.”
A third fan joked, “Ubering home after spending $400 on tickets and $60 on beer to watch Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews play hockey”.

At last week’s match against the Florida Panthers, Auston Matthews failed to score a single goal from three attempts. He has witnessed a huge slump in his performance; once considered to be one of the toughest players on ice, Auston Matthews has been able to score only 23 goals this season so far.
This has been a sharp decline from the 69 goals that the star player was able to achieve in the last season of the NHL.
However, Auston Matthews’ loyal fans are still expecting a comeback from him. The star player will be spotted playing against the Calgary Flames tonight.
