CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh boys
Karandeep Singh and Sachin Kumar claimed the boys under-12 and under-14 titles, respectively, in the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Sports Complex on Friday.
In a well-contested final between two budding players in under-12 category, CLTA's Karandeep Singh prevailed over Shree Krishna (Bihar) in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
From start, Karandeep played with confidence and aggression and it worked for him. Taking home ground advantage Karan played brilliantly even though there were a few tough games, he went for his shots and scored some good points. Karan played marvellously right from the start and put pressure on Krishna.
In under-14 category, another CLTA and CHART player Sachin Kumar, who is currently ranked fourth in India, won the title defeating Udayan Bhakar of Rajasthan in two sets 6-3, 6-2.
Continuing his good form, Sachin won the first set 6-3. In second set, he broke his very first gameand then broke Udayan twice and wraped up the match 6-2. Sachin did not even lose a single set in the entire tournament.
Second seeded Prabhuti Singhania of Maharashtra beat topseed Victoria Chahal of Haryana in three closely contested sets 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 in the girls under-14 singles final.
Andhra Pradesh's Pranjala Yadlapalli won the girls under-12 title as she defeated Snehal Umesh Mane of Maharashtra 6-0, 6-1 in the final.
