The wrestling world suffered a significant loss on August 26, 2024, when it was announced that Sid Eudy, better known by his ring names Sycho Sid, Sid Vicious, and simply Sid, had passed away at the age of 63. Sid's death came after a prolonged battle with cancer. The somber news was shared by his son, who described his father as a man of immense strength, kindness, and love.
He emphasized that Sid's presence would be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Sid's impact on the wrestling industry was far-reaching, and his passing prompted many to reflect on the legacy he left behind. Among those who paid tribute was
AEW star Jeff Jarrett, who had crossed paths with Sid numerous times throughout their careers. During a recent episode of his "" podcast, Jarrett took a moment to remember Sid, sharing his thoughts on the wrestler's life and career. He reflected on the brevity of life and the profound loss that Sid's passing represented, stating that Sid would be greatly missed. Jarrett expressed his deep respect for the man Sid was, both in and out of the ring.
"If you just really, really knew Sid - and I say this with all due respect, and I'm one of them - but Sid was just a good old country boy from eastern Arkansas. It's just that simple, man. A unique look, to say the least and he wouldn't mind. But when I say sweetheart of a guy, because you just never expected that," said Jarrett, highlighting Sid's down-to-earth nature and the surprising warmth he exuded, which often contrasted with his intimidating in-ring persona.
Jarrett also touched on the fact that, despite their frequent interactions, he and Sid never seriously discussed the possibility of Sid joining TNA Wrestling when the company was founded in 2002. Jarrett explained that neither he nor Sid had a real interest in pursuing the move, partly because Sid's heart was always elsewhere. Jarrett believed that Sid had his priorities straight from the very beginning and never wavered from them.
"He probably had his priorities straight from day one and really never got off center of that. God, his family, and his wife, and his kids, and hanging out with his buddies. Yes, a softball game came in there, but he looked at it as a job," Jarrett shared, emphasizing Sid's devotion to his family and close friends, as well as his straightforward approach to life. Sid's legacy as a wrestler and as a person who remained true to his values will undoubtedly be remembered by those who knew him and by the countless fans who admired him.
