Her final match took place on April 29, 2025, at a Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling event in Tokyo, Japan. She teamed up with Manami to face Aja Kong and Chihiro Hashimoto in front of a proud home crowd. It was a fitting goodbye for one of Japan’s most respected wrestlers.
Fans and stars from around the world reacted to her retirement, but one of the most special messages came from Triple H. The WWE Chief Content Officer took time to thank Satomura for her incredible work and all that she has done to inspire women in wrestling across the world.

Triple H praised Satomura on social media after her final match. He shared how much she meant to the wrestling world and how her career helped shape the future of women’s wrestling.
"Congratulations to the Japanese wrestling legend and former @WWENXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura. Your contributions to this industry have inspired a generation of female athletes around the world," said Triple H.

Satomura replied to his message with kind words of her own. She remembered how the support of Triple H meant a lot to her during her time in WWE.
“Thank you very much @TripleH I had a great experience with WWE. The words you said to me in 2019 inspired me. I appreciate to @WWE @WWENXT Thank you very much! #WWENXT #WWE,” she said.

Satomura’s WWE journey and achievements

Satomura joined WWE in 2018 when she took part in the Mae Young Classic tournament. She signed full-time in 2020 and became part of NXT UK, where she became a big name. She later moved to NXT and helped young talent grow as both a wrestler and coach.
She made history by holding the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 451 days, the longest reign in the short history of the title. She was also the final champion before the title was unified with the NXT Women’s Championship in 2022.
Satomura had many memorable matches in NXT, facing top names like Roxanne Perez, Zoey Stark, and Mandy Rose. She even wrestled at a live event of WWE in Tokyo in 2023, where she faced Bayley in one of her last WWE matches.
Even before WWE, she had an amazing career in places like WCW, Chikara, STARDOM, and her promotion, Sendai Girls. Her influence reached far beyond just one company or country.
