BMW to introduce advanced AI features in cars in China with DeepSeek collaboration

German automaker BMW has announced plans to integrate DeepSeek AI into its new vehicles in China later this year. The announcement was made by CEO Oliver Zipse at the Shanghai Auto Show, highlighting BMW’s commitment to embracing local technological innovation in the world’s largest automotive market.
DeepSeek AI will bring advanced natural language processing and machine learning capabilities to BMW’s vehicles, enabling more intuitive user experiences. From voice assistants to predictive infotainment systems, the integration aims to redefine in-car intelligence tailored specifically for Chinese consumers.
Zipse emphasised the importance of strengthening AI collaborations in China, stating, “Key advances in AI are happening here. We are strengthening AI partnerships for integration in our vehicles in China.” The move reflects BMW’s strategy to compete with domestic electric vehicle brands that are increasingly leveraging AI to enhance functionality and user engagement.
