Zoho Corporation's CEO and co-founder, Sridhar Vembu, has announced his decision to step down from his position as CEO. Vembu will transition to the role of chief scientist at the company, where he plans to focus on deep research and development (R&D) initiatives, especially in the rapidly advancing fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology.

In a statement on social media platform X, Vembu explained his decision, citing the various challenges and opportunities the company faces. "In view of the various challenges and opportunities facing us, including recent major developments in AI, it has been decided that it is best for me to focus full-time on R&D initiatives, along with pursuing my personal rural development mission," Vembu said.

As part of the leadership transition, co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will take over as the new Group CEO of Zoho Corporation. Another co-founder, Tony Thomas, will lead Zoho's US operations, while Rajesh Ganesan will head ManageEngine, and Mani Vembu will oversee the Zoho.com division.
Vembu's new role will enable him to dive back into hands-on technical work, a move he expressed excitement about. "I am happy to return to hands-on technical work and focus on deep R&D efforts," he added. Vembu's dedication to innovation and his personal mission for rural development have been pivotal in shaping Zoho's growth and success.
“The future of our company entirely depends on how well we navigate the R&D challenge and I am looking forward to my new assignment with energy and vigor. I am also very happy to get back to hands on technical work,” concluded Vembu in his post.
