Cyclone Fengal

Cyclone Fengal impacted southern India starting November 30, 2024, making landfall near Puducherry. The storm caused torrential rains and gusty winds, leading to widespread flooding in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. Villupuram experienced severe flooding, and rainfall was recorded at over 14 cm in Puducherry within 12 hours.
By December 2, the cyclone weakened into a depression over interior Tamil Nadu but continued to cause heavy rains in Kerala and Karnataka, prompting red alerts in several districts. Rescue efforts included evacuating over 600 people in Puducherry, and public services were disrupted, including train cancellations and school closures.
