70 perish in Kenya flood 'emergency': President William ruto

President William ruto of Kenya declares an emergency situation due to widespread flooding caused by rains linked to the El Nino weather pattern. The flooding has resulted in the death of 70 people and displacement of 36,160 households. Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia, which are recovering from a severe drought, are now facing devastating flooding. The cabinet will hold an emergency meeting to discuss crisis management. The Meteorological Department forecasts more rains, increasing the risk of further flooding. The Kenya Defence Force is airlifting supplies to affected communities.
