On May 5, Sister Wives' star, 56, stopped to ponder the overwhelming sadness she's been walking around with after the passing of her son, Robert Garrison Brown, who died by suicide in March 2024 at 25 years old. Posting a heart-wrenching black-and-white picture of Garrison kissing her on the cheek, Janelle shared her experience navigating heartbreak, healing, and the gradual way forward.'It's taken some time to embrace the reality that, ultimately, we did everything we could," Janelle posted in the heartfelt Instagram post. "At times the brain tricks an individual into believing there is no hope, even though all the signs point to something different. Her own words describe the mother still greatly mourning, yet attempting to find a glimmer of light in the darkness. Going back to Flagstaff, Arizona—a location once full of memories—only made that emotional journey more profound. "Being in Flagstaff last week brought a deep realization of how much I need this new chapter—somewhere different. Wherever I looked, I could see remnants of Garrison," she explained. In the same blog, she wrote with great appreciation to her children and "grandbabies" for supporting her through the sorrowful days since Garrison's death. And though the loss is still new, her faith is a beacon of hope. "Because of my faith, I know I'll be reunited with Garrison one day.
That promise brings me immense comfort."Janelle's unedited and emotional post followed only a day after the May 4th installment of Sister Wives, where the family reflected on the terrifying day they received news of Garrison's passing. Garrison's younger brother, Gabriel, found him in his apartment in Flagstaff, and the whole Brown family was left heartbroken.During the episode, Janelle spoke candidly with her sister Carrie about her plans to start fresh in North Carolina, and how she and her children are slowly trying to move forward.“We all are starting to have a lot more frank conversations about mental health,” she said, adding that Gabriel, who had found Garrison, was “doing okay.”However, the path to the future is weighed down with responsibility and grief. "Now I have the big job of getting his house ready and all that stuff," she said, speaking of Garrison's Flagstaff home.Janelle's continued candor about her own grief and mental health has resonated with countless fans who still grieve with the Brown family. Her bravery in keeping Garrison's memory alive while pushing for greater mental health awareness is a testament to both the vulnerability and strength of the human heart.
