Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra on his alma mater SRCC and coping with failures

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra was in Delhi to be a part of SRCC’s Youth Conference, and spoke to students about the importance of failure, why he made 'Rang De Basanti', and also motivated students to not get depressed or affected by the marks they get. In response to students asking him about how he deals with failure Mehra said, “I learn from them. I made my first film 'Aks' and it didn’t work. I thought, I love making movies and technology comes naturally to me, so where the hell am I going wrong? Gradually, I realised that I was relying too much on the cinema that I had seen. I am not Yashji, or Guru Dutt, why should I make films like them? What is the story that I want to tell? So I wrote 'Rang De Basanti' and it became a huge success.” \n
