As COVID-19 second wave in India wreaks havoc in the lives of millions, we have seen how communities are coming together to help ease the pain of the lesser fortunate. During such trying and unprecedented times, it's really heartwarming to see how people from all walks of life are helping each other, including celebrities. While actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, among others are trying to use their social media platforms to amplify the voices of those in dire need of help, some senior actors are extending their support, monetarily and by donating essential things needed to battle the COVID-19 crisis. Joining the bandwagon is filmmaker and actor Ajay Devgn, who has been working with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to provide emergency medical facilities for Mumbaikars affected by COVID-19. The actor has joined hands with BMC and Hinduja Hospital to set up Intensive Care Units. This time around, the 'Tanhaji' actor and a few of his esteemed colleagues from the film fraternity have stepped ahead and helped the BMC to set up an emergency medical unit at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. Local newspapers reported that BMC has converted Bharat Scouts & Guides Hall at Shivaji Park to a 20-bed COVID-19 facility with ventilators, oxygen support and para monitors. Devgn has helped by providing funds to the organisation through his social service wing NY Foundations. Suniel Shetty has also extended help and support to all those in need during the COVID crisis. Joining an initiative to provide free oxygen concentrators, the actor wrote, 'We are going through some testing times, but a ray of hope in this is the way our people have joined hands to help each other.' The actor also urged his followers to seek help as he wrote, 'This is an appeal to all my friends and fans. DM me if you need help, if you know someone who needs help, or if you want to contribute and be a part of this mission. Please amplify this as much as you can and help us help them.' Earlier, Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar donated 100 oxygen concentrators, doing their bit in the fight against COVID-19. Salman Khan also sent out 5000 food packets to the frontline workers including the police officers, BMC staff and health workers on COVID-duty.
