Troll calls Vir Das ‘ghar ka bhedi’; Richa Chadha comes out in his support

Actor-comedian Vir Das is known for his impeccable comic skills and enjoys a massive fan following on social media. However, he is in the spotlight these days for the wrong reason, after his monologue 'Two Indias' received backlash from different quarters of society. Now, after losing at International Emmys 2021, where he got nominated n the Best Comedy category, the actor-comedian took to his Twitter handle and dropped a picture of his medal and meal. Along with the pictures, while expressing his gratitude and honor to represent the country, he also penned a tweet that reads, 'I was nominated for best comedy at the International Emmy Awards, for jokes. Call My Agent, a beautiful show I love won. But I got this medal and ate this fantastic salad. It was an honour to represent my country. Thanks so much to the @iemmys' Soon after coming across the tweet, a section of netizens went on to troll him mercilessly and dropped some harsh and mean comments. Reacting to the tweet, a troll wrote, 'Someone tried to defame India, will ultimately qualified for such international nominations. Bravo. Ghar ka bhedi'. However, Vir Das got support from Bollywood actress Richa Chadha as she came forward to reply to the troll and wrote in Hindi 'Akhbar padhte ho?' Meanwhile, one of the other trolls reacting on Vir Das losing Emmy to Call My Agent, wrote, 'Paap ke kamai!! You downgrade your country and haters give you awards...Very simple! They encourage you to do the same in the future, paving the way path so that others could follow the same.' Notably, Vir Das had recently performed at John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, where he criticised India on certain issues, but many took it as an 'insult' and started trolling him. Earlier, he himself opened up on the issue and in a conversation with a news portal, he said, 'I am here to do my job and will continue. I won’t stop. My job is to make people laugh and if you don’t find it funny, don’t laugh.'
